About Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board :
The Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board was established in 2016 by the Government of Maharashtra to oversee the plantation of bamboo in the state of Maharashtra, with greater emphasis on plantation on agricultural land to supplement farm income and Value addition of Bamboo and also to combat climate change and Contributed towards flexibility. Availability of quality raw material requirement for industries.
Main objectives of the Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board are :
Improving post-harvest management through setting up of innovative primary processing units near the source of production, primary treatment and seasoning plants, conservation technologies and market infrastructure.
To promote product development keeping in view the market demand by supporting R&D, entrepreneurship and business models at micro, small and medium scale and to feed the large industry.
To promote skill development, capacity building, awareness generation for development of bamboo sector from production to market demand.
Reorienting efforts to reduce dependence on imports of bamboo and bamboo products through improving the productivity and suitability of domestic raw materials for industries, thereby increasing the income of primary producers.
Our Initiatives taken to promote the bamboo sector :
Fourteen common facility centers have been set up for making bamboo handicrafts and furniture. A Bamboo Vikri Kendra has been started by Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board at Seminary Hills in Nagpur for the bamboo artisans of Vidarbha. Here more than 25 artisans are engaged. This initiative is getting good response from the citizens. Similarly, the board is working to start similar Bamboo Vikri Kendra in every district of Maharashtra. Under OSOP Scheme of Indian Railway, A Bamboo Shop is opened at Itwari and Nagpur Main Railway Station. Bamboo Vikri Kendra has initiated a new E-Commerce venture named vanshahcraft.com where all the products will be available for all the customers accross India.
